ABOUT ME

I'm Nataile. I am a writerly person, though I primarily write plays. I am a theatre artist, which means a lot of different things. I work in arts administration. I love my cats (Maybelle & Coal Porter) and I can't stop buying books. I like flannel shirts, I like ugly sweaters, I like dyeing my hair unicorn colors and shaving chunks of it off because it makes me feel punk rock.

This blog is a place for me to memoir-as-I-go about my life, with a focus on my struggle with mental illness. Specifically, I've been diagnosed with major depression, social anxiety and ADD. I am on a mission of radical transparency to help counteract the vicious stigma against mental illness. I believe that there is a universal story to be found in our specific, individual stories.

When I grow up, I want to foster kittens.

Oh, and Ravenclaw for life.

... also, I crowdsourced reviews because I had an existential crisis while writing this. Here they are:

"cats" -- MS.

"Natalie enjoys having other people write her "About Me" section." -- JH

"Natalie fucking rocks." -- my big brother, who is pretty much obligated to say nice things about me.

"I’m here to write a survival guide to living with depression, anxiety, and housecats (also to make my cats famous). I’m a funny, candid writerly person, theatre-maker, kitchen sink surrealist, cat lover, and all around badass human-lady based in Washington, DC. Stay to read my radically transparent memoir-as-I-go or my style blog, or just see pictures of my cats." -- MW, who is too nice.
